Hello you YaYas!

Can you believe that it's over already?
Wasn't I just sending emails to you all in February?...and being laughed at by my daughters telling me "we just had one, and you're already sending emails about the next?"

Time flies when we're having fun.

The group consensus was that "this one" was the "best"...so far.
But, we say that every year don't we?

I asked Rita why did this year's "Mothers & Daughters" day feel so good, and she said "The Moon was in the 7Th House".... lol.
To those of who are too young to know what that means, it's a line from a song "The Age of Aquarius".... (1968)

"When the moon is in the Seventh House And Jupiter aligns with Mars Then peace will guide the planets And love will steer the stars."

Well.....I think the planets were in perfect alignment. It was a perfect YA YA! Everything just felt so good!
Being together again, the food, the hats, the Petites relishing the fun.

It touches my heart to know that my little idea, has turned into this annual event. And it has gone on for 5 years. That you all look forward to this day, and as I have said many times, that the little ones will grow up never knowing a time when there was no " Mothers & Daughters" day. The traditions being made, the stories being told, will hopefully be carried on and on.

I wish I could see into the future, when one of our "Petites" is 65... dusting off her hat, grabbing the scrapbook and going to the "60Th annual Mothers & Daughters day." What will they be saying about us? What memories will they hold dear?
Well, I'm busy watching Game Three in the Play offs. I will be putting more photographs on soon.. I promise.
So check back soon. Or I'll send an email along.

ALMOST TIME...

Hi everyone!

By now you should have received your flyer for this year's Mothers & Daughters Day.

It's only a few weeks away, and I'm busy getting things together, updating the scrapbook, and gathering pictures.

It would be wonderful if you'd like to bring a dish to share, along with the requested items on your little cards.

Jamie says: "THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS TOO MUCH FOOD"... so true!

I hope the weather is good, and we can have a Bonfire! So just in case, remember to bring a jacket. Remember the cold & wind last year?!!

Antje, don't forget to make little Anna a hat!

... and to this year's "Inductees" you MUST
have a hat!!!
BUT... you can NOT wear it... till you have been..."inducted".... heee heee heee!!!!!

I've got some fun things planned, and welcome any suggestions from you all.

I bring your favorite music if you'd like!
Remember, you can dress as wild as you want!

you're with your YA YAS! so let loose, and have fun!

OK.... There probably won't be any more Blog updates, so if you have any questions, or comments, just leave a message here, or email me!

Coming soon!

Hi Ya Yas!
It's a unusually chilly day, and I'm listening to the rain, as I write. I think we're going to make up for all the rain we didn't get all Summer! It rained all day yesterday, and they're forecasting more for the whole week.
I love an all day rain! It's so peaceful and relaxing. Wish I could crawl back into bed

Please say a collective prayer, that the rain Stops by Saturday.....I'm having a yard sale, and I don't want all my work to be in vain!

I'm sorry I missed the family camping weekend, Michael arranged at Kelly's Island a couple of weeks ago....I had to work. But I will be there next time!

I've been busy in my art room, making new collages, and designing our "Flyer" for this year's Mothers & Daughters (YA YA) day.
COMING SOON!
OCTOBER..... As it draws near, I'm getting more excited!
I'm looking forward to the Colors of Autumn, the cooler weather (hopefully!)
making a big pot of Navy Bean soup... mmmmm..... my favorite Chilly day food
and.. of course.. YA YA! OCTOBER 13TH, 2007

This year, the "Elders"... aka: Rita, Susan, Debbie and I... have decided to team up. Rita and Susan will be on Breakfast detail, while Debbie and I will be doing Dinner. In an attempt to cut back on all the mass quantities of food we end up with! We will still request everyone bring something, but it will fall in the catagories of deserts, snacks and beverages...... more details in the flyer.

COOK BOOK VOLUME 3
Yes, it's true! Rita has managed to create another marvelous cookbook!
I can't wait to see it! New family recipes, and more photos! YAYA!!!

DUST OFF YOUR HATS!
As you probably already know, this year's YA YA, will be at the Cottage in Madison, Ohio again. And like last time, it's a sleep over. So start making yourself a check list of the things you'll need to bring. (DON'T FORGET YOUR YA YA HATS!)....Also for those who are staying over ( and I hope you all do.. ) please plan on bringing $22 per adult, if you haven't already paid.

If you're planning on a project for us to do, please bring enough supplies for everyone, or let us know if you'd like us to bring something for the project.

....ALSO.... PLEASE BRING PHOTOGRAPHS!!!
Rosemary, if you would be so kind as to bring the prints of Odile & of Jerome again!...I don't know what happened to them last year, I suspect it may have accidentally ended up in Jeanette's scrapbook ?
We would relish any old photos you might have to share with us. Especially of your mom, and Aunt Cora, or photos of all of you, or my sisters and I as little girls? What ever you might have to share would be great. I will bring our family albums to share too.

Everyone should bring some old or new photos!!!

Ok.. that's all for now.
Take good care of yourselves, and we'll see each other soon!

Bless you!
love,
MaryEllen... Daughter, Sister, Mom, Aunt, Cousin.. and friend.

HOW'S YOUR SUMMER?....

Hi Girlies!
I hope you are all having a wonderful Summer! The Easter snow storm is now, just a chilly memory.
BIRTHDAY GIRL....
I spent the weekend with my sisters. We were out celebrating Debbie's Birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SISTER! It was beautiful, breezy, Sun-shiny Blue day. We had breakfast, and did a little shopping, Browsed the Clifton Arts Fest, went to Ohio city's "HECK'S CAFE" for a light lunch, and enjoyed the cool breezes under the shade of the umbrella. We made our way to Tremont, and browsed a few art galleries. Next stop, the Olive Garden for dinner. We headed back to Debbie's house, and enjoyed a cozy fire on her Patio, drinking wine, talking and lots of laughter. We all turned in about 1:30 a. m. In the morning, were treated to an awesome breakfast (THANKS DEBBIE!) out on the Patio. I love my sister-days, and I LOVE MY SISTERS!

After breakfast, we all hung around and discussed Ideas for our upcoming "Mother/ Daughter Day"

I can't believe this will be our 5 Th gathering! It's so exciting, and it touches my heart, to see that it has carried on this long.

TEACH YOUR CHILDREN WELL....
We have so many fun things planned. We loved our "teaching/sharing time" so much, that we plan on doing again this year.
Think about what you would like to teach or share with all of us. To refresh your memory, last year we learned bow Making from Rita, Strung our names with beads, Heather passed out a goodie bag, filled with information about Breast Cancer awareness, Sahra shared her favorite book "POST SECRETS" with us.....(visit the very cool POST SECRETS WEBSITE... you won't be able to stop reading!)
Allison brought several bottles of nail polish, and we gave each other manicures!
I know some of you were very intimidated by this "teaching/sharing" thing... DON'T BE!
It's just a time for all of us to learn something new, and HAVE FUN DOING IT!
You don't need to be crafty, or a poet. You can share an inspiring story, teach us a Yoga position, give a gardening tip, ANYTHING! More information about this will be included in this year's
flyer.
HURRY....HURRY....HURRY!....
Rita has already begun work on our Volume 3 cookbook!!!.... If you haven't already submitted a recipe, PLEASE DO ASAP!!!!... If you don't have a recipe, you can send a funny family story, (it could be a funny cooking story...like.... did you burn the Thanksgiving Turkey?.... under-cook a cake????.. )or a favorite photo.... Maybe you have a ffood photo to share. A special dinner?.... baking cookies with the kids?...eating Christmas dinner?... JUST SEND SOMETHING!... please? Time is ticking, so email Rita with your recipe/story/or photo.
ASAP!!! or no later than July 16 Th.........Don't get left out!

WHO ARE YOU?....
I'm still working on our "who's who" book. It will be filled with short BIOS about each of us, written by YOU!.... What would you like the Ya Yas of the future to know about you? Your philosophy on life ? .....Your favorite color?....your travels?.....your passions? I look at old family photos, and wish I knew more about them. What were their passions and what was life like in their day? For the little Ya Yas, their moms can start a page for them, as they get older, they can create their own page. I'd like all the BIOS to be at least one page long. If you're feeling ambitious, you can write more! Just think about what it is you'd like the YA YAS to know about you, 50 years from now! So, start thinking. OK?.... More information to follow.

LITTLE YA YAS.....
I really love Heather's idea to do have special time, with our"Petites." they are getting older, and can participate more now.
I love that they will grow up never knowing a time when there wasn't a Mothers & Daughters day!

Ok, that's all for now. I will keep you updated on any news. Please feel free to post any thoughts Ideas or comments here on this blog, just by clicking on the little "Pencil" below.

REMEMBER:
To send Rita your recipe, story or photos.
Start thinking about your BIOS.
October will be here before ya know it!
Bless you!...and...
I love you all!

Getting Excited!

Sunset, from the Cottage....October, 2006
ByMaryEllen

Hi again ya'll!

Thanks for all your quick replies, and comments you've already left.
I'm glad you like the Blog so far!

Heather has decided to send all her money (and Sahra's & Chloe's) all at once. That's a good idea, and you're all welcome to send the whole amount if you want, or split it up. Either way is fine.
Just please have it sent by APRIL 30TH.

I love Heather's idea, about spending time with the "Petite Yayas" (see previous post & comments)
They're getting older, and will enjoy having special time just for them!
I love that in their little lives, this Celebration has always been! And that they will grow up having a better knowledge of their family, past and present.

We'll have to work on the menu, and a simple plan.

Ok that's all for now.
Get busy sending Rita your recipes, and leave a comment about any ideas you may have.

Love you YAYAs!
